Default Bulking...gaining weight for GF (NON steroid please)

Hi!
Recently my GF has had health problems, nothing too serious but she is 5'4 and about 90lbs wet as the doctor just weighed her today.
She does not work out...I am woriking on that.
She DOES eat, and has a very good appetite. She could eat me under the table any day. She just doesn't seem to be able to put weight on. She has a decent amount of stress, which may have to do with recent weight fluctuation. She used to average around 98 pounds or so and today was 88 at the doctors.

My suggestions were to start working with weights 3xs per week, protein shakes post workout and home made weight gainer shakes every day. Nothing extreme, whey protein with milk, peanut butter, a bannana. Also I am going to make sure she has at least 1 - 1.5 g of protein per pound of LBM.

Please let me know if this is the right way to go about it. Obviously she is an ectomorph and before ignorant people start saying she is anorexic, she is NOT.

Hey, Nick. Thanks for posting.

Good idea on getting your girl into the gym with you. Sounds like you've given her diet some thought and are on the right track.

Could you post an example of what her daily diet is looking like now? 88lbs IS very tiny for that height but you say she's eating well so let's have a look see. I'm not judging as I'm naturally quite thin myself and I eat like a horse!

If you're not opposed to it perhaps have her register here or at least do some reading in the diet forum. We'd certainly be happy to help and there is lots of great info there.

OK...not so good as she sits beside me and bombards my virgin ears with a plethora of terrible foods she consumes on a daily basis...

Here she goes...
BTW - She is at about 92lbs right now. 105-110 very lean and TONE is her goal her.

Cookies and trans fats for breakfast
Burger or Gyro with fries, or big burrito/multiple tacos for lunch and POP
Chicken or beef and rice or pasta and veggies for dinner with POP
Snackage such as chips, candy bars, ice cream, cookies, etc... during the day.

YIKES!!
Help a brotha out here!!

Help me outline something for her with minimal supplements.

How well does she tolerate milk or cottage cheese? Since you say she eats ice cream I assume she's not lactose intolerant.

She definately needs more protein in there, and more regularly than three times a day. At least 1.5 grams per lb of body weight. It's not always the quantity of calories consumed, but the quality. She's really not eating enough.

Please ask her to cut out that junk too.

Cool.
Yeah, doesn't really tolerate lactose that well, so those two are out.
I am bulking now so I am trying to encourage wholesome protein and the occaisional shake as an alternative to crap.

Well after a surgery I was having difficulty holding onto weight and my Mom (a nurse) got me a tub of Spirutein ( brand name sold at GNC). She'd beef it up with peanut butter or icecream. Just like a shake. Your girlfriend may benefit from that once or twice a day. I know I did.
