Default how to encourage a female 101

ok ladies, i need some schooling... my wife gets pissed at me because she says im to harsh on her when she does things, like snowboarding, exersizing, giong to the gym etc...
i was raised kinda like that... you coulda done more/better, shoulda tried harder, tough shit kinda way by my dad, and i think i turned out ok... i THINK she was raised like that too, when she ran track she said her parents made her even practice and train after the normal practice was over... when she doesnt succeed i tell her to try harder and maybe next time, or if she isnt losing the pounds she wants i tell her work out harder and diet more... she has started running again, but like 1/4mile then walking for 1/4 mile... i know everybody starts somewhere, but this is kinda slow isnt it? especially for a track person. she gets mad and is disappointed in me when i dont show that she is doing 'good enough' etc etc etc....

how can i be a better husband and encourage her in a way that it motivates her to strive for more, without putting her down and making her feel bad about it?? any advice is helpful... thanks!

i would never try to "motivate" someone that is not looking for motivation. let her be happy just doing the recreation! everyone has different goals!

if she comes to you seeking advice, advise her... but never EVER criticize a partner like that - it's perceived as offensive. you're her husband, not her coach.
