I had surgery 5/2/2001...it still feels weird to bench or do any chest exercises. I used to compete in the PPA for bench press. At the time I weighed 121lbs and benched 135lbs. I don’t think I can reach that personal best again. help...

i've always read that it shouldn't affect your lifts if you're all healed...

are they over/under? what's the problem when you lift?

I have had two sets of implants. The first set was back in 1993 and they were saline placed beneath the chest muscle wall. I was lifting back then, as well. BUT, they were sooooo uncomfortable all of the time, even while showering with no signs of capsulation. I had them replaced 1 1/2 yrs ago with silicone. I know, I know......everyone has their opinion of them. However, I love them. I feel as if I don't even have implants! There is one problem though. When I do any upper body posing, they lift up and out, good God, that bothers the hell out of me. My doc told me that they probably shouldn't have been placed beneath the muscle because of my bodybuilding. They told me that tends to happen to "us" but they were more concerned over me having clear mammograms. So, I guess I shouldn't complain. You may want to check with your doc because my saline implants had rippled and were rubbing??? Anyway, hope this helps you a bit. Good luck!

Although some women don't have any problems working chest after implants, I think that many do if they went under the muscle. Since I went under the muscle even some non-chest exercises are uncomfortable and even a little painful (like skull crushers). I chose the unders mainly for clear mamograms (I'm 37) and to prevent sagging in the future. I think women who compete will generally be happier with overs.

I just had my surgery 6/7/04. It has only been 3 weeks and I am starting to do light upper body work. The Doc says I am weeks ahead of schedule with healing. I started cardio 5 days after surgery. I do find it uncomfortable though. I wouldn't say painful...just that I can really feel the implants jump when the muscle contracts. Thay are saline and under the muscle. Wondering if this will change? I am used to heavy lifting and I love to work chest. I am also a massage therapist...and I do deep tissue work.
