I have always gotten off of my birth control about 3 months before a contest. I used to be on Yasmin 28 (oral estradial/progesterone), but last year I swtiched to the nuvaring (transdermal estradial/progesterone.) The reason I did this was to cut out anything that might not let my body lose bodyfat. I would usually either have a light period for the 3 months that taoers off close to the show, or none at all (though when I started back up right after the contest everything goes back to normal.) I am 100% natural. Has anyone else done this or found that it would make any significatn difference? If you've done it, how many weeks out before a show would you stop??

Many girls go off birth control before shows but I believe most go off about 6 months before contest time because it takes the system awhile to clear out the extra estrogen.

Many pros who compete year after year don't use birth control at all.

I've read the Nuvaring is bad for holding estrogen so you may want to go off earlier.

This will be a trial and error thing unfortunately.
