Default Stretch marks

I've been getting stretch marks high on my hammies, right under my glutes for a few years now and they slowly travel farther down my leg. I'm really self conscious about them and I was wondering:

A) Why do I get them and why only here?
B) Is there any way to reverse the process (if cost was no issue)?
C) Will spray tan cover them/make them blend in?

I've never been overweight but I have put a couple inches of muscle on my quads over a 4 year period. Nothing drastic. Never AAS.

You can get laser treatment but that of course will cost.

You can get Retin-A from your doctor or you can go over the counter and use bio-oil or a cream rich in vitamin e and really massage it into your skin. Baby oil and cocoa butter are boths supposed to work as well.

Part of the reason you get them is genetics and you would get them in that spot because your skin is stretching. When skin stretches whether it be a baby, muscle, or fat gain you will get stretch marks.

Some people don't get them due to the elasticity of their skin (genetics). Getting them on your upper hams is just your own genetic little thing.

Lots of water and a good diet rich in nutrients (veggies and fruits) helps prevent but it can only do so much.

Tanning will help hide them.

No worries about hijacking the thread but also feel free to start a new thread about it in this section! Or just get her to join!

She can work out whenever she wants to! Her tummy.....once she loses the weight there may be loose skin or there may not....that depends on genetics and how tight she was before the pregnancy.

To keep as tight as possible she needs to watch her diet but if she is breast feeding she shouldn't be worried about calories....just make sure she eats clean food.

fitgirl,

The answer, I’m sorry to say, is no. Since stretch marks represent a permanent change in the dermis (the deeper layer of skin beneath the surface layer known as the epidermis), there is no amount of resurfacing that can erase them. However, studies have shown that laser treatments can lessen the depth of stretch marks in some patients, with an improvement rate of between 20 and 50%. The improvement is believed to be largely due to the laser’s stimulation of increased production of collagen and elastin in the dermal (deeper) layer of the skin, where stretch marks are formed.

Lasers are most effective on immature stretch marks (those that are still red in color), and many doctors say that they are nearly useless on more mature (white) stretch marks. Furthermore, for darker skin types, laser treatment of stretch marks is generally considered unadvisable, largely due to the risks of causing hyperpigmentation changes in the skin.
