newbie var question
hey all..new to ology. i'm 24 female, 118lb athlete. did some homework and believe var is the way to go. in my sport have to watch weight and not much room for gains.(if anything i would like to loose weight) i'm just looking for strength and a little training advantage. hopefully this is the way to begin. question is this- i understand you should split up taking half in am and other half at night...should you take 2nd dose right before training? also how long before you feel it's effects? thanks for any and all advice!!

Yes....splitting is fine although if you are on a really low dose you really don't have to but it's up to you. I personally would.
No need to take the second dose before training.
Some will see effects as early as 2 weeks after taking it and some have to wait 6 to 8 weeks to see effects.
Sometimes it's hard to know if it is working or if it is the placebo effect.
Please start at a low dosage so you can see how your body will react. You can always increase it but you CAN'T reverse some of the side effects if you go to high.

im new to anavar also. i just started my first cycle, so im on my 4th week of it. i noticed strength first - HUGE strength increase after the 2nd week. the first week i did 5mg and the second week i went up to 10mg. at first i was taking the 10mg dose all at once in the afternoon, but then i switched and did 5mg in the morning when i wake up, and the other 5mg about 2-3 hours before i train. didnt notice any difference splitting it up - it just mentally helps me. i posted my cycle stuff in the cycle forum if your interested.
so if you're looking for strength...you'll get it with anavar. weird tho - i havent lost ANY weight since i started taking it. my legs dont measure any smaller really - yet they have leaned out. i am assuming that i am building and holding all of it as i lean down? the strength increase is awesome.

I'm going to be starting a cycle of var and was wondering how your water retention was. I tend to hold a lot of water with nothing

i havent noticed any water retention at all and im on my 6th week of anavar. I am taking some creatine too, and im still not holding any extra water.

My trainer recommended I go no higher than 5mg a day to avoid any side effects? Have you noticed any unwanted sides like acne or swelling down below?? I plan to start mine in late May

no - not at all. i did notice that my skin is a little greasier, but not disgusting. And no swelling down below - and i check for that often, haha. i'll definitely let you know if i do though. by the time you start - late may - i will be on my 15th week about, so i should be able to comment to you about any side effects if i get any.

Thanks!! I'll be following your journal. You're so lucky you got no sides so far, I'm so paranoid about that. And the way people state how dangerous it is, gets me nervous. Did you get blood work beforehand to have some comparisons with ur cholesterol??

i had my blood work done recently before i started like a few months prior, for a different reason - and i had my liver function checked because i have family history of liver problems etc. and last year my liver swelled up so they were following me pretty close. since then - no problems. i told my doctor that i was considering anavar - last year i told him, and he said to come see him while on it to have my liver and blood checked. i am going in to see him in about a week or so - to make sure everything is going good.
i will let you know if there is anything off on my results.
i feel good. im not worried.

that's so cool that your doctor was okay with the anavar stuff. My doctor is from the old school and thinks protein shakes are bad LOL Time for me to get a new doc, when I start my cycle - I can't wait, yet I'm so nervous.
Do you have any body pics of your transformation?? I understand not showing the face, but would luv to see the realistic pics of progression.

well, my doc wasnt ok with it...i just told him i was gonna do it anyway, but i would appreciate his help. haha.
i have no problem showing you some pics. i would like to wait till i take some more as the weeks go by and then i can show you all of them...just would seem so much better! i have actually only taken pics twice in 10 weeks - but i will be taking them more often now as i get closer to show time. i will post some for you here in the next little while.

hey - finally started with 5 mg a day. i'm assuming that you ladies are taking orals- i have capsules- is their anyway of telling if what i have is real? is the powder suppose to be tasteless?

my powder doesnt really have a taste - i have capsules too and i split it up each morning and take half then and half later on about 4:00 or so. it is fairly tasteless. im not sure how to tell if its real... i got strength increase after the first two weeks at 5mg a day for the first week and then i went to 10mg the 2nd week - noticeable strength - my weights all got bumped up in the gym. i got minor headaches for the first week or so right after taking it - then that went away.
hopefully someone else knows a better way to tell if its real?

5 mg is a good starting dose. I think 10 is too much. You should notice some type of physical differences within the first few weeks whether it's oily skin, strength changes, headaches, etc. Most noticeable some nice strength changes.

did my first week at 5 now bumping it up to 10 for 2nd week. i have already seen strength increases after first week but that may just be a psychological effect. i always have gotten bad headaches too so not sure if it's due to everyday life or the var. thanks for all the great advice so far ladies....will keep you posted!!

hey girls, i posted in my cycle forum, but just in case you dont check it out - i am just starting to notice the acne thing. im at 8 weeks on anavar. my face skin got oily earlier, but i am just now getting some acne. its not terrible or anything - but i've always had really clear skin, so a few zits are a big deal for me! haha...
also miss muscle, i noticed lately that i am always clearing my throat - all day long.
my throat always feels flemmy? is this "the beginning" or is it more only if it starts to get sore? my voice isnt cracking or anything either. just was wondering if this is another side coming about.

That is the vocal chords being enlarged. That is very normal with anavar.
One of two things will happen. They will enlarge to the point where your voice will become deeper and you will have a permanent side effect or you will get lucky and you won't have that permanent change.
It's up to you if you want to continue and risk the permanent damage. For some it isn't a big deal.....for some it is. You may not have to worry though and will just have that phlegmy throat.
The oily skin won't be permanent....and a bonus....it prevents wrinkles!

i was worried about that....kinda had a feeling it was a side effect. i can live with that for now. if my voice starts cracking or something...i dunno know, haha! i can handle the oily skin and a couple zits here and there - but we'll see if my voice starts to change.

hey guys just wanted to send a quick update...feeling leaner. i don't do much lifting bc of my sport but a lot of cardio/running/sprinting and conditioning. starting to see certain muscles i knew were there but are finally noticeable. strength wise i guess it's still doing good. i'm not comparing it to a certain weight/ reps but i'm going strong in my workouts. pretty happy going in half way of third week. how long you guys think i should keep going and what's right amount of time to take off in between cycles? thanks

For good results stay on cycle at least 8 weeks...I would say no more than 16 weeks. Preferably 8 to 12.
