Default comp. question.....

Thanks to all the females that responded to my last post. Im thinking about doing a show in April. Now that Im prepared for the time, I plan on bulking and adding some muscle, then about 3 months out start my cutting phase. Even though I have quite a bit of knowledge on training and diet Would it be wise to invest in a trainer of some kind??? I know I'll definately need help with the choreography....but how do most women prepare for these figure competitions??

I personally believe hands on coaching for your first competition is the only way to go!

I'm currently prepping for my first figure comp.

Some things my coaches do...........

Planning Diet
Cardio
Weight Training
Teaching Poses
Choreograhphing A Posing Routine (for bodybuilding)
How To Purchase Suits and Shoes
Assisting in Dying The Skin
Hair and Make-Up Advice
Safe and proper supplement and thermogenic use
Safe and proper AAS use

I see them every 2 weeks in person for posing practice and one on one chats......email them every 2-3 days or phone them.....send them pics over email....and 8 weeks out I see them every week....2 weeks out every 3 days till comp.

They answer all questions for me and explain why when I have doubts.

The first 10 weeks I was very skeptical about some of the things they were doing.....but when I went to them with my concerns they always gave me a reason why they do things the way they do. And if ever a client disagrees they work on a compromise together. I now feel fully confident and am happy I have employed their services.

I think for the first comp it is always nice to have hands on services....especially for the posing portion. And the last 2 weeks when you start manipulating water......I personally think if you are inexperienced then you definately want a coach for this!!

If you are looking towards online coaching then I recommend Dave Palumbo or our very own DirkmoneyShot! I'm not sure if either is accepting clients at this time but it doesn't hurt to shoot them a PM!

Miss Muscle is right on- it is incredibly easy to hurt yourself or set yourself back due to lack of knowledge. i can't personally speak for palumbo, but our Dirk is right on the money...shot lol!

Most women will hire a trainer and preferrably one with experience in figure competitions. I'm a personal trainer with national level competitive experience.
It's important to understand what the judges are looking for. Every level of competition is different. Elegant, muscular symmetry with a beautiful face and smile is what they all want to see. Is your definition of elegance and grace the same is theirs? That usually becomes the deciding factor. If you are serious about getting on stage , you have to understand there is a financial commitment for training, food, supplements, posing suits$$$, oh yeah travel and lodging along with competition registration expenses.... The list goes on. Just be ready to spend more than planned on.Good Luck with your trainer search. let me know if I can help .
