NEEDSIZE.....
What advice did you say to do when reaching a plateau? I can't seem to find it on here anywhere, but I remember that it was something like switch to 5x3, then 3x5, and finally back to 5x5, but I don't remember what you said about weights. Should I increase the weight to something that I can only get for 5 sets of 3 and then drop back down to the weight that I originally plateaued(sp?) at for the 5x5 and resume with the systematic increases? Or just drop back down like 15 pounds and work back up to and past the original sticking point? This is really disheartening for me, because I've managed to plateau on all my 5x5 lifts in the last 2 weeks. (Diet and sleep situation are better than normal too, thats what's weird.) Thanks for the help.

Hey gang, i am new, and i have two question.
1) Out of all the excercises, how do you know which one gets the 5x5?
For example, if one does:
Flat Bench press
Incline bench press
DB flys
Decline bench press ....(this is not my routine, but this is just an example so i can understand)
how do you know which one of those excercises get the 5x5, and which one get the 2x8?
And that question goes to all other muscles..how do you know which one gets which? Can 5x5 be done on two diffrent excercises for the same muscle? or only 1 of the excercises?
2) When can one truly say "Ok, i have hit a plateau"? After how many weeks of doing the same weight of 5x5? After 2 weeks? 3 weeks? 5 weeks?...
This should clear things up and i can start my 5x5.
Thank you very much..and hello again to all the members..i am looking forward to share some pics with you soon and learning!

fadi, I'll try and get all your questions
The compound exercise should get the 5x5, if you have two like flat bench and incline, go for the one you use the most weight on, so flat bench.
Only do 5x5 for one exercise for each muscle group, here are the ones I use.
Standing barbell curls
close grip bench press
military press
deadlift
squat
bench press
As for plateaus, play it by ear, but if you cant move up for 203 weeks, then its probably time to switch

I did 5*5 last night for chest, on flat bench...question, where should the muscle fatigue start to come in, i ran my fir 3 sets a345 no issues, 4th set at 345 ok, last reps a bit slower, and 5th set was slower, and a bit of struggle on last 2, but no help needed...
this is new to me since i generally run a 10(225),6(335),3(365),2(385),1(430),1(430),3(365), 2(385),1(430), type routine since i train for power i guess......i finish at 430 on the above...
so i am trying to gauge where i need to be to grow...
any help?

eastarr69, generally when you start the routine, you want the first few weeks to go easy
