    Question best shoes for squatting?
There are lots of arguments in our gym flying around as to what are the best shoes for squatting? Some say combat boots--I don't like them, others like Otomix shoes, some people like running shoes--too much heal for me? Chime in with your opinion. Has anyone tried Inzer Maximal LS shoes--what are their benefits?

chuck taylors, i see alot of guys with a grand on their back and chucks on their feet. I am not going to pay 150 for some pair of specialized squatting shoe.

The best squating shoes are at walmart... they are stamped flat hard foam bottoms with some fake leather on top, $16.99.

chuck taylors / converse all stars are great . i use high top leather bb ball shoes with the inserts removed to make the flatter and lower to the ground , this makes the almost as low and flat as the chuck taylors but the leather high tops provide more support than the canvas shoes .
NOT ONLY IS STUPIDITY INCURABLE BUT ITS ALSO CONTAGIOUS OVER THE INTERNET.

NOT running shoes. they are designed to be cushions for your feet as you pound on them- that cushioning gives you an unstable surface for your feet when squatting.
You want something thats as close to barefoot as possible- squat shoes, wrestling type of shoes, or chuck taylors that have a flat sole are all good.

Those are too flat. Its like going bare foot.

You need to wear shoes with an arch on the inside of the foot, so the inside of your foot does not flatten, and force your knees together. That can cause problems. Your better off with running shoes if you dont want to pay the money. Thats what I have been told and agree with, but everyone is different.

wrong again boy wonder. some of the biggest squatters in the world squat in chuck taylors. you seen what i squat in? you better off bare footed than wearing running shoes. they already got you leaning forward. not good. i have seen numerous folks have balance probs squatting and then i see what they wearing on their feet and its running shoes. i have them take them off and walaa, no mo balance probs.

anyone who said to squat in running shoes dont no squat. =0)

I have balance probs too sometimes with running shoes, but I dont want to screw up my knees with flat shoes. I will eventually get the right shoes.

What about work boots or something?
    work boots are fine.

never heard that squating in flat shoes messes your knees up. making your knees buckle in is a inner leg/ham/hip weakness, has nothing to do with shoes.

thats ridiculous, bs on that one.

you know how many PLers squat in flat shoes and for years and years. i mean we talking guys squatting in excess of a grand.

some of the stuff i read just blows me away. some guy who dont even squat prolly made this shit up so he wont have to squat. you will never see a PLer or an olypic lifter squatting in running shoes. they may have a slight heal but it aint much.

Thanks man. I will try work boots. Should I shave the heal a bit?

    No heel.
PB is right (since its exactly what i said...)
you don't want running shoes- you DO want to be close to barefoot. professional squat shoes are practically like slippers for a reason.

That depends -- how hairy are your heels?

I have a pair of low-top Otomix flat-soled shoes that I like for squats, but they're about ready for retirement and I think I'll replace them with a pair of Chucks. Those Otomix are almost like moccasins, they're so flat and thin. They were on closeout for $24.95 a pair when I bought them.

try the leather high top bb ball shoes , they have a slightly higher heel than toe and you can change that up by removeing the insole while squatting .

    I usually squat barefoot.

I love when I see guys squating in running shoes with plates under their heals. They look like they are about to fall on their face during every rep.

I took off my shoes the other day after watching the new Deads vid from PB, and my deadlifts felt alot better indeed. So, last night I did squats and thought, hey, same thing must appply right? Exactly!!

Went nice and deep (calm down PB) with 2 great sets of 425 for 6/5 and felt so much more balanced. It was amazing to say the least at the difference. I ain't buying shoes until I feel a reason too. Just socks for me I guess!

    Thanks guys
