New here with very low testosterone.
    Hello,

I have suspected for a while now that I might have low testosterone. I have have lifelong fatigue, pretty low strength and performance considering the amount I work out, and a hard time getting rid of body fat. So, I started asking questions in google, and 9 out of 10 times, the answer was found on this forum. So that is why I am here.

I recently got my levels checked for the first time and they came back with 113 ng/dL and 2.3 pg/mL. I understand this is quite low. I wanted to try and raise it using foods and supplements, but I have been following the advice found on peak testosterone as well as here and I end up with a 113. So who know what it was before I tried diet and supplements. Everything else was normal.

I am curious if anyone has ever used Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) to raise it and keep it up after going off of Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). Is Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) the best option, or are their other safer and more effective options? I read that people mention Anavar a lot.

And if I do have to go on Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for testosterone, what is the best delivery method?

    Thank you!

113 isn't "quite low" - its off the scale low. So there's a problem that the much-reviled medical community will be good for.

You need professional help, not a forum. First: an MRI to find out whether there is something radically wrong with your pituitary gland. Then - I dunno.

    How old are you?

^Listen to Big. First thing is to find out if something is seriously wrong.

If all is clear, the next best advice is do your research. Understand where you should be, what to look for and get hooked up with a Dr who knows what he is doing. This is your health.

There is a lot of information from very knowledgable people here on these forums that have been in your situation. Search and ye shall find.

    Good luck

    I am 39 years old.

I have talked to a few Doctors who specialize in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), and quite frankly, I wasn't impressed with their knowledge. They sounded more like salesmen than Doctors.

I suspect I have had low testosterone my entire life. All my other blood work is normal, so I suspect my body has adapted to it quite well.

Is there a list of recommended Doctors in Colorado by chance?

Call a compounding pharmacy and ask for a few endocrinologists who write T scripts. Have your thyroid looked at. See multiple doctors and get a few opinions,

I am not too keen of asking someone making money off of a doctor for a recommendation. The pharmacist will likely recommend the Doctor prescribing the most pills.

All companies are not like this. Besides if your an informed patient it will be easy to tell who doesn't know what they are talking about.

That's why I was looking for recommendations here. I could talk to a dozen doctors before finding one who actually cares.

At 113 I would think you would have no problem getting on T. I would however get that MRI done, just to be safe. I think delivery method seems to be different for different people at least from the research I have done, but most people seem to have success with Injections.

Finding a doctor who will prescribe testosterone is not a problem. Finding a doctor who will help me off of it is.

If you want to try and sell me on your services, then go ahead and try and sell me. But short blurbs with acronyms that I have to look up doesn't really help to inspire confidence. I have no idea what you offer or how your services are different than any of the dozens of other websites advertising the same thing. Please either decide to sell me, or stop with the hit and run posts.

At the risk of being rude... I'm presuming you've been on testosterone therapy, if so, you really should understand what the HPTA is, and does, for your body. If not, it's a quick answer away from Google. Acronyms are quite useful in the medical world and are used all of the time. by the way, HPTA = hypothalamic pituitary testicular axis

I WAS a potential customer who wanted more information and gave you an open door to sell me on your services and product. I was tired of your drive-by postings that were not answering my questions and weren't really adding anything to the discussion. I gave you the opportunity to tell me what you offer and you come back and tell me I need to relax? You obviously don't win any points on customer service.

Why would I call? You can't answer my questions on here, then why should I expect you to answer them on the phone?

No, I have not been on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). This is all new to me. I have no problem with looking up acronyms, but I was getting tired of the really bad one sentence sales pitches from IMT. I am far more likely to seek help from someone who wants to educate me than from someone who appears to only want to sell me something. But as they say, Customer Service is indeed dead. I get the same attitude from the Doctors! LOL

We don't answer questions on the open forum, we are not aloud to advise those that are not our patients.......................................... Im not trying to win ANY points, you said you can't find a doctor to help you off testosterone, I extended a hand......

We are not Amazon and are not trying to win points on customer service, if you think you can get more attention about your needs elsewhere than what we offer our patients have at it.

If you need testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) then you'll need it for life. There are two meanings there - you'll need it forever, and you'll need it for life.

And "lifelong fatigue, pretty low strength and performance" - tick.

IMT/Todd has a good reputation here, but if you want to find a local doctor who will work with you I suggest you go and talk to a couple of compounding pharmacies in the area. They will tell you - if you ask nicely - which doctors specialise in Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which ones just prescribe stuff, and which doctors don't have a clue. Don't phone them - drive there and talk to them in person. In my case I was given a complete rundown of which local doctors knew anything, but that if I really wanted the expert he is three hours away. People really want to help. Including Todd - but as he says he is very limited in what he can do on this forum.

I have read several individuals who successfully increased their natural testosterone production through short term testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). They have a higher quality of life after the testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) has stopped. Every doctor tells you it is permanent because they want a cash cow.

If someone can't speak in the open forum, then they can always PM. I am sure Todd knows what he is doing and gets a lot of people coming to him. However, I expect more from someone who wants me to give them my money.

Again you do not understand the dynamics of what you are talking about. The HPTA is a tightly coupled dynamic feedback loop, and there are way too many factors involved to even attempt to tell someone short term testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) can raise someone's natural production, doing so is inaccurate.

Can it occur? Sure, but was it the testosterone? or the new found diet, exercise program and reduced BMI that contributed to the rise in testosterone?

I may not know much but I would venture to guess that it is the latter.................

Lose your cynicism. Not everyone is out to get you. Listen to what you don't want to hear as well as what you do want to hear.

Stacks of good advice in this thread, but it sounds like you know it all anyway.

    Bye.
