white potatos are a fast carb so post work out they will do and only post workout..Sweet potato is more of a slow carb you wanna eat that through out the day in small portions depending on your goals.I have very little fat on me so im trying to bulk I eat about 21 to 25 sweet potatos a week along with a good amount of protein. good question i like food questions.

Red potatos, if I am correct, are the best dietary choice of the various kinds of potatos in terms of the glycemic index. But, I'd recommend baking the red potato, if you make smashed potatos or mashed potatos, then it will no longer be a slow carb and it will be absorbed much faster. As noted before, fast absorbed carbs are best post workout.

Sweet potatoes and regular potatoes have about the same amount of carbs (sweet potato is a complex carb & white potato is a simpler carb)), sweet potatoes also have more fiber and are slightly lower on the glycemic index than reg potatoes, so blood glucose will rise a little more gradually with sweet potatoes than with white potatoes.
Other than this they aren't that different nutritionally.

Perfect answer here... Also sweet potatoes contain beta-carotene (form of vitamin-A) which gives it its orange color similar to carrots I believe. Sweet potatoes all the way! hehe

I love sweet potatoes! But when I eat them instead of rice I am hungry 30 minutes later. Rice keeps me satiated longer.

i would neglect white potatoes unless its around ur workout, however sweet potatoes are great not only do they have a low caloric rating but thier rich in vitamins minerals and fiber. One of my personal favourites for sure.
