Default Milk

Ok ive heard alot of different opinions and a lot of different articles and i just wanted some facts.

From what ive read and because im not retarded i know that milk contains carbohydrates. On the other hand a lot of people have said because of milks protein benefits the carbs dont actually turn into fat in the body. So i was just wondering if this was true because i dont want to be ignorant on the subject and it would greatly help me in my diet.

so please and thank you

well the milk sugar are not good at raising insulin levels.

that it did not turn into fat is something i have never heard though.

If you are not lactose intolerant and dont mind the extra calories then go for it...

yes they will be used. the lactose will be broken down to glucose and it will be either burned or stored. If you dont burn it, it will fill up glycogen reserves and then it will look to that other familiar storage location, it will be converted to adipose

I stay away from milk because it makes me retain water, bad. A friend of mine (trainer, ex bodybuilder) that is in peak physical condition at all times (he doesn't look real) won't touch dairy, especially milk.

Doesn't answer your question, but if you are trying to cut or are concerned about retaining water then stay away from it. My buddy has told me for years to avoid milk at all cost, it seems to have worked for him.

Milk is well known as an excellent source of calcium. Regardless of its fat content, milk provides about 300 milligrams of calcium per serving (8 fluid ounces).

here's what i know about milk:

The benefits of cow's milk to the human body are questionable, as many of us cannot digest it for one reason or another. Though dairy products are considerably higher in calcium than most other foods, if your body can't tolerate dairy, then its calcium is not absorbed well.

and of course the lactose like any other sugar, will go into your fat stores if not used, an 8oz glass of skim milk has about 12-14g of sugar, yep all those people lining up at Starbucks for a "skinny Late" (which by the way is 16-24oz not 8oz) and then surprised they are getting fat... yep what a surprise.

hmmm.... i thought the best damn thing for putting on muscle is protein, and all though whey and casein do come from milk, iv never met a BB who downs a glass of milk post workout.

not to mention i was talking about carbs and sugar in milk, which is what the original question was about, never mentioned milk's awsome muscle building ability

The truth is the problems with milk are because it has be pasteurized. Raw milk is great for you and will aid in fat loss.

I'm personally lactose intolerant, but I would advise against milk anyway. The sugar ain't gonna do you good, there's plenty of calcium supps out there. Although I do have to admit, no cheese is what has been hard.

Milk is made for baby cows

If I want to keep fat off I would not drink milk for any BBing reason. If you don't care about bf, then drink milk until the cows come home

I know lots of powerlifters drink milk.

at the D1 school i did s&c internship at, the athletes were made to drink chocolate milk post-workout specifically because of the sugar/protein content. Obviously there was a cooler stocked with RTDs as well, but everyone got a glass after training. Gatorade Sports Science Institute (Yes, real place with real PhDs conducting research) had some good research on this, sat in on a guest lecture.
