Default A better butter?

I was looking for a healthier butter and noticed Smart Balance's light butter. Is palm fruit oil a better option than a olive/canola based butter? What about for bodybuilding purposes? Thanks

Good question and one Id like to look into.

Look at the ingredients and they list em from start to finish. Usually they start out with water that of course cuts down on everything. The first ingredient listed is what the product most consist of.

What I use:
Instead of butter/margarine on sandwiches etc: Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray
Stir fries and/or cooked meals: Extra Virgin Olive Oil Spray/Extra Virgin Olive Oil
For sweet things, eg; pancakes: Macadamia Oil

Then again Australia isnt in "the know" like USA when it comes to specialty/low calorie options

just compare the fat and calorie content and you will see which is better. a calorie is a calorie, a fat gram is a fat gram. the words, "natural" "organic" "multigrain" etc. are just marketing. a handful of skittles is going to do the same thing to your body as an orange. its just sugar.

I think that's true if calories was the only concern ^

there's different types of fat, and different types of sugar. the sugar from fruit is fructose and the sugar from candies and other refined foods is sucrose

all used by the body in different ways

in a reasonable diet is the difference between fructose and sucrose going to make a big difference?

i think people focus too much on small differences. like the difference between natural peanut butt and jiff. sure, natural is going to be better in certain ways. however, its still high calorie, high fat and those are the most important numbers to look at.

well id like to know there is a difference but i'm mostly only concerned about the small things when i'm cutting

for example different carbohydrates have different glycemic index ratings, which is important to know when wanting to control insulin responses at different times of the day

to a regular person just trying to follow a healthy diet the small things may not matter much but for someone struggling at a plateau they might

I assume the OP wanted to know the difference in the bodies response to different fats as well or they wouldn't of asked!

there is a big difference between natural and non natural peanut butter as well. they contain different fats and not all fats are equal!
