Default Canned Salmon

picked up a bunch of kirkland canned salmons in costco the other day. i made a sandwich by mixing it with some low fat mayo, lemon juice and hot sauce. it was kind of like a tuna but without the fishiness and more moist. i am very happy with it. ill try a few things to make it a little more tasty but it was a success if anyone is interested in a tuna alternative.

it says the serving is 2 oz and the can has 2.5 servings. so if you are eating one full can multiply those numbers by 2.5.

i was looking it up and i saw some company (not the one i bought) stated it had bones in it but they were so soft that they mixed easily with the salmon and you wouldnt notice them and they provided added calcium.

i didnt notice any bones in the salmon before or after mixing so im not sure what if anything was there.

the bones in the salmon over here that i've opened are not soft at all. it's like the spine bone as if they cut the salmon in vertical pieces and threw it into cans.

still a good fatty fish though canned or fresh.

I should try canned salmon again, the memory I have of it isn't good.

I do really like the canned chicken from Costco.

I also eat alot of canned chicken. I mix it with honey and yellow mustard, with some black pepper. its a bit tangy, but a great mid day snack while at the office.
On a side topic, are there mercury risks witht he canned salmon and chicken as there is with tuna?

im not a fan of the canned chicken. one thing i was thinking about doing is buying one of their rotisserie chickens and pulling off all the meat and making a chicken salad out of it.

The Kirkland salmon is not bad but i think they add the red or pinkish coloring to it wich means most likely its farm raised.
If you like salmon in a can try the one that says "Pink Salmon" and its by Bear & Wolf. Skinless and boneless and its Wild Alaskan Salmon.
It should be right next to the Kirkland brand. Trust me..i work there
