Default Question on Calories/Protein/Fat Please

So can I please ask A basic question please. So for a young 40 year old man at 215LBs and very low BF I all ways been a hard gainer as far as pounds. I can eat junk food till I’m blue in the face and not put on a pound. But any how I’m pretty fit and pretty defined body wise. So now
my question How meney Calories do I want a day and I’m guessing Protein I want what 400g per day? And last How much total fat should I be at for a day as well. Anything else you need to know? OK so thanks in advance for your help on this...Mike And let me add that when I'm ready to cycle my gole will be 10 to 15lbs Lean M....

well first off the junk food is not going to give you what your looking for anyway so just forget about that. i would think just going off of the basic info you gave that you are going to wana really focus on good fats, and complex carbs, and ALOT of both! just a basic starting point, you could start between 20-25 calories per/lb and break that down into something like 55/30/15 (carbs/protein/fat), most like to start at a 40/40/20 split but i think your gona wana go a little higher on carbs, then you can increase calories by 500/day as needed to gain! now again you didn't list too much info but if you have a good diet now that you like and are happy with the ratios then you could just keep them as is and just start upping calories by 500 each day until you start gaining. just be sure to eat the right things and as much of those foods as you can! i hope this helps a little bit and if you need more specific info just list some questions. good luck!

really good advice.

I would like to add that even if you are a hardgainer and dont put on weight from fast food there´s good chance that bad stuff is happening in your body. you can be below 10%bf and get a heartattack so when you choose your food dont just think in terms of gaining or losing weight. think is this good for my body.

right just like ecke70 said and also keep in mind that your not just trying to add weight, but your trying to add the right kind! you may not be growing like you want off the fast/junk food but lets think how much of that would actually be used by the muscles for growth! now if you put the right "bodybuilding" foods into your body and your muscles start soaking it up to repair, then walla you have growth and mot just fat gain!

Now that obviously makes perfect sense..Good point and I'll tell ya honestly that did enter my mind. Boy how much bigger I can be after years of on and off working out. No doubt eating the fast food must have hindered my potential for growing..Well that’s me I guess never taking full advantage of anything and just settling for half the reward...Well all and all I guess I can't complane about the end result today I'm happy with it...Thanks for your input on the subject...MIke

don't be too hard on your self bro, i eat my share of fast food as well but i just make sure i dont count it towards my "good food" for that day. so say if i went to McDonald's or something while out on the run i might come right home and down a protein shake to feed my muscles what they need instead of just counting the fast food as a meal, so to speak. so just keep in mind that the fast food may not give you muscles what they are needing, just be sure you eat those good foods as well and try to keep the fast foods to a minimum.
