Weighing Food
Im doing a really simple diet with six meals 5 of which are straight chicken and brown rice ( 8oz of chicken/ 8 oz of brown rice)
bought the scale, which really has helped me portion everything out, but my question is do i weigh the food before or after its been cooked. I suspect the chicken would be around the same, but i dont know about the rice...
this may be a stupid question, but i had to ask...

after, you probably lose 2-3oz due to water which doesn't count in the nutritional facts.

chicken gets reduced to about 75% of its raw weight when cooked, and instant rice makes about 2x when cooked and rice that is not instant becomes about 3x the uncooked measurement....
you can weight it either way, so long as when you count your cals and macros you decipher between cooked or uncooked food

i dont think the calories are after their cooked because if you get a bag of chicken it says the number of portions in the bag, so u know how many oz's there should be. Well if u weigh them out after their cooked, there are alot less servings than the bag says.

its not that their saying water has protein, they are just saying thats what the weight is with water in it, and they know that the water will weigh that much so they figure that into how many servings there are.

that could be very true, but i know it changes for a fact... off the top of my head, an ounce of raw chicken has 7 grams of protein, whereas an ounce of cooked chicken has 9 grams

sounds delicious.
but you generally weigh things after theyve been cooked. depends what it says on the bag or at www.calorieking.com or wherever youre getting the macros from.
