Livingsteel, I have an amazing concept for a "Steroid Olympics". Little bit off topic but hopefully I can get a chance to explain it in an upcoming contest.

Steroids were made illegal because it would hurt big pharma's profits if we lived a more healthy life as we get older.They recognized this. As we age our hormone levels drop and the health problems set in. These "diseases" that occur latter in life are due to low hormone levels causing the body to not be able to regulate itself as it once did. There is big money in treating diseases and symptoms from not being able to sleep at night,ED,cholesterol,pain,anxiety,no energy.etc. and a lot more.A dose of test would take care of some of the problems I just mentioned for a lot less money than what all the different pills for each symptom would cost.
As long as the quality is good I don't care if its pharm grade or ugl.Make it legal for anyone 21 and over.

I see alot of response here but to what I believe most are wrong as to why steroids are illegal..
I dont remember the case but back in the eighty's a man that was using steroids killed another man in traffic in Cali. He beat the guy to death with his hands in a fit of road/roid rage. He blamed steroids saying that he could not control his attitude and is wasn't his fault the steroids caused him to lose his temper.
Now that being said the gentlemen that was killed had a relentless mother that started a movement similar to M.A.D.D. to combat against steroids. SHe got politicians involved and the ball started rolling from there. I beleive this is the exact reason why steroids eventually became illegal. It was following this case that they started to bring up all the health issues related to press the decision through congress! 1 mother made the difference in this country. Dont piss mom off.
The banned steroids within 15 months after this case, this case was the one that broke the camels backs, the pharms were fighting it because with them being illegal they would lose enormous amounts of money.
All it takes is one idiot to cause a new law to be put into effect.

Should they be illegal? Yes!! reasoning for the guys that blame the steroids as to explain for the actions and the people that abuse it.

Steroid Olympics:

Every 4 years a "Steroid Olympics" as such should be held. At this olympic games pharmaceutical companies would have athletes competing for them on their drugs. So instead of athletes representing countries they would rep the pharma companies. The major corporations would be in a division together and the best UGL's would be competing to join the elite division. The winner of the UGL division would gain grants to expand the company and become legit. This way people would get a look at what athletes are taking and how successful/unsuccessful they are. You can just see it now, instead of showing an athletes country age and other stats the tab on the tv screen would list his current cycle being used and what pharma company he represents. You can just see the headlines "Axio wins 32 gold medals at Singapore Steroid Olympics". It would be like watching a live lab test being carried out.

Of course this will never happen but I had a dream one night while looking forward to my current cycle!! lol Overall I dont believe steroids should be legal but the bad rap they get is totally uneducated and created by media hype looking for a scapegoat to some other ills of society. The bottom line is the government wants to make as much money as possible while not risking backlash from cointributors to campaigns and other major foreign allegiances. Look at cigarettes, alcohol etc. They kill more than steroids every year but the government just makes more money off them every year.
Do I want everyone to have access to gear? No, I dont think any of us would like that seeing as we put a lot of time, money and research into it to just have some cockhead walk in and buy gear and swell up while he does 25lb dumbell curls while talking on the cell phone in the gym! Fuck that!

When we come to a decision to legal interpret an act in our criminal code, there is typically a lot of research, in addition opinions by professionals in the area of interest taken into consideration prior to coming to a final ruling. The only problem this time around is that the politicians who are making this choices on keeping steroids under lock and key is the fact they are completely uninformed and uneducated on the subject matter. By watching movies such a s Bigger, faster, stronger and watching some HBO interviews, you can easily tell that what these politicians are using as "professional opinions are research" are misrepresented ideas handed out to the general public on a silver platter by the media.

If we truly want to make steroids safe, healthy and legal we need public figures to step forward, and say "yes have been using steroids for many years and I have a perfectly clean bill of health." Arnold can start the crusade,along with Silvester Stalone, and the majority of professional athletes.

By keeping steroids forbidden, youth are still going to use with poor knowledge, often seen on these message bords. With the correct information available and proper blood work there are millions of us world wide that are happy, not in rage, healthy, not dying of liver cancer or yellow with jaundice and more intellegent than any other politician making these decisions as we have taken the time to look at both sides, not just the one-sided view portrayed by the media.

Why are steroids illegal?

The reason why Steroids are illegal is because the drug company's make money selling their products. You are not Suppose to undercut there prices and take money from the billionaires! Sorry the rich own your governments and that's the plain old truth. Therefore Until you suck up to "joe the richness" you cant get on that money train and cash in.

why steroids should not be illegal and how it would be better for us if they were not illegal.

If steroids were not illegal all the gyms in the world would be full of women that look like men ! well in my honest opinion i think that would suck! And i dont really think steroids should be legal because theres just too many factors pointing towards abuse. Though alot of manual labor jobs would get done quicker ,
