buying this would be a waste. I do anesthesia, and the only reason to have a pulse oximeter is to measure the amount of SATURATED hemoglobin. unless you have some respiratory disease, hang around carbon monoxide all day, or smoke ridiculous amounts of cigarettes, checking your pulse ox is pointless. normal values are anywhere from the low 90's to 100%. it can change constantly, but monitoring a pulse ox wont tell you much except that your lungs are exchanging carbon dioxide for oxygen, and that oxygen is making its way to your tissues.
